About Feather & Perch
Celebrating Australia's native birds through original gouache artwork and beautiful mail.
It Started with a Love of Birds
Feather & Perch began with a simple idea: to celebrate Australia's remarkable birdlife through art that could be enjoyed long after it arrived in the letterbox.
Every month features a different Australian bird, lovingly painted in gouache before becoming a collectible postcard designed to surprise and delight bird lovers around Australia.
Meet the Artist
Hi, I'm Sylvia.
I'm an artist based in Tasmania with a lifelong love of Australia's native birds.
I work primarily in gouache because I love its soft, matte finish and vibrant colours, which perfectly capture the personality of each bird.
Every Feather & Perch design begins as an original painting in my studio before being professionally printed in Australia on premium recycled cardstock.
My hope is that each postcard encourages someone to pause, appreciate our incredible birdlife, and experience the simple joy of receiving something beautiful in the mail.

Why Birds?
Australia's birds are endlessly fascinating.
From tiny robins to colourful parrots and curious wrens, every species has its own character and story.
Feather & Perch celebrates that diversity one bird at a time, creating a growing collection inspired by some of Australia's most loved native birds.
A Little About the Name
A feather is a reminder of the birds that inspire every painting.
A perch is where birds pause before taking flight.
Together they represent slowing down, noticing nature, and finding beauty in small moments.
